Tech Q / Suggestions

I am going to be replacing my clutch soon on my 08 wrx. I was wondering if a lightened flywheel would be a good idea? Pros/cons?

Also, after beating up my clutch I noticed that on a somewhat hard launch I feel a vibration on my clutch pedal. I checked my drive axles and they are fine. Any ideas on what that could possibly be?

It kind of depends on what kind of driving you plan on doing with the car as to if you should consider getting a lightened flywheel. They can be pretty finicky if you are trying to launch the car with them. They also will drop revs quicker when shifting (not usually a problem, just have to adjust how you drive your car with it).

street/track
Since I never had any experience with flywheels I was trying to see if it would be worth doing at the same time as clutch.

That depends on how light you go. Typically if you stay on the "Heavier" side (i.e. around 15 lbs) then you MIGHT not throw a CEL. If you go on the "Lighter" side and get something around 10 lbs then you're much more likely to throw a CEL.

For Street/Track you might be good with the lightened flywheel, but your off the line performance will probably suffer.
