taxes...

Im sitting here looking over my taxes. I want to ask you guys something. If the federal income tax is an indirect tax, that means it's tied to an activity which makes you and I liable. What activity did you and I do to become liable to it? Now is it possible you and I aren't really subject to the income tax? What do you guys think?

All the definitions and examples I could find through google show indirect taxes as being levied on an event or activity or goods, etc. An example might be a fuel tax or gas tax.

Where are you reading that the income tax is an indirect tax?
