I have Verizon for about 3 years, before Cingular.. but now it seems both companies have problems around the Marina! Everywhere else it's fine, but most of the time at my house it's close to one bar or zero. I will most likely stay with Verizon again.

i think cingular is much better than t-mobile, i just switched from cingular to t-mobile like 2 month ago, and its easy to see that sometime i don't have reception at the place i been to when i was using cingular.

For coverage, Verizon and Cingular definitely win.

I went with T-Mobile because their plans are much better (1500 anytime for $39 and unlimited data/text for $20), and I get enough coverage for it not to be a big deal. I think if I relied on my cell for my job I'd go back to Verizon (or get both). I have been really happy with the SK2 and T-Mobile, but that's 'cos I'm a geek at heart. I have got really used to having the internet connection available all the time - whether out in the town, or waiting for the GF in Macy's.

Sorta off topic, anyone know when Cingular is going to release the Sony Ericsson W810i? I'll be looking to buy a new phone in a few months because my S710a is breaking up calls.

I was under the impression that the W810i was already out? I am a big sony ericsson fan. My last 2 have been ericsson's from m S700 (silver ) that I got over seas and also my K750i that I also got over seas with that 2.0 mp camera. I ended up selling the first one and now breaking the other one after I threw it =P. Any case, I use the phone's with T-Mobile Service but am about to switch to Cingular. I love GSM, they have more of a variety in phone choice's anyways which is what I like .

I'm looking at picking up one of these phones:

Sony Ericsson W850i

Sony Ericsson K800i

Cingular Specific: Samsung D807

Cingular 8125 Pocket PC

So many choices!! I hate choices!!

Cheers,
Mark

Ohhh, I didn't know about the W850i. A slider Sony Ericsson doesn't sound too shabby. Maybe I'll wait out for that one. Anyway, the W810i IS out internationally for the past 4-6 months, but Cingular's not offering it yet (where I could possibly get it cheaper through contract renewals and junk).

The W850i and the K800i are tri-bands and they don't support 850 (which I believe is a band that's prominent out here for Cingular folk). Might wanna rethink those SE's until they come out with quadband versions. Correct me if I'm mistaken on my logic here. =)

On a side note, does anyone know if a T-Mobile Sidekick 2 will be able to work on the Cingular network with a Cingular sim-card? I know the internet capabilities won't be on there, but I was just wondering if I could make calls and text at least.

If it works...my Sony Ericsson W600i will be up for sale

I honestly haven't done much research this time around like I usually do but I was able to use my K750i here so...I don't where that leads us.

I'm sure if you find a way to unlock it that it will be able to work but like you said no internet but Cingular should be able to open that up as well .

SWEET you have the V3x. I was seriously looking at it for a while now. I was REALLY concerned about the whole tri-band issue since most of the US is 850mhz instead of the 1900mhz on the phone.

Do you always get great reception around the bay?

I'm ditching the whole SK2 idea.

I'm actually deciding between the V3x, V3i, and the D807 mentioned above.
