Supercar performance for under UKP20,000

It's had rave reviews from Formula 1 drivers, the most prestigious motoring journals in the world have lavished superlatives on the vehicle and in a recent track shoot-out, it wasted the world's fastest roadcars lapping more than three seconds a lap faster than a Porsche 911 GT3, a Noble M12R, a Pagani Zonda and a Lamborghini Murcielago. And it is road registerable! Whatsmore, you can put one on the road for under UKP20,000.

They reviewed this on 5th gear as a challenger to the fastest lap time by a Zonda. Tiff's face was blowing out of proportion like that old face shot:

Given that there's a Washington state registered version for sale on the Atom club's site, I'd say they *are* street legal here. There just aren't any importers, looks like you'd have to talk to the factory directly (and it would appear that they know how to build one to US specs).

Sweet baby jesus, this is the car I've always wished someone would build.

Some friends here are building something similar (yes, building....from scratch!). More or less, a Lotus 7 clone with a ***** out NA 13B Rotary. Motor, conservatively, will put out 250 HP .

Car should weigh right at 1000 lbs empty.

Car should be done later this year. I look forward to a test drive

Sounds like a fun project! Did they get a kit chassis or did they construct this from sratch as well?

Constructed the chassis from scratch (literally, steel tubing and sheetmetal!). They used this book for the basic chassis layout, but modified it a little since they are, umm, "big folks" like me . Donor car for the rear axle and trans is an 85 RX7. Front spindles/brakes from a 93 Miata.
