You won't be able to test drive a Hyundai without showing a DL in CA. Maybe in the midwest. I don't believe you.

I wouldnt let them run my credit either, especially if I was pre approved. He should have brought his pre-approved loan paper work (no need for another inquiry on your credit report)

I test drove 2 evos and 3 stis, 1 g35, 1 s2k, all not credit reports, and im a 22 year old, came in wearing a tshirt and cargo shorts

Either way its for the best, your buddy should get the evo IX

I would let them do a credit check. Then ask them for a print out.

Free credit reports rock.

When my brother bought his Audi RS4 two months ago, they didn't even let him have a test drive.

Who cares if they check your credit?

Soon after google went IPO my roomate went to the ferrari dealership on El Camino in a wifebeater and shorts/tennis shoes, JUST so the salesmen could go "uh wtf get out of here" and my friend could go "BUT I'm RICH, BI.TCH!" (of course in the end he did the smart thing, and bought a house in Palo Alto instead)

If anything, it's a snobby mentality to be offended by routine checks... should tell your friend that.

But then again I suppose it's a very "engineer mentality" not to want to be above the system.

It's not a waste of time if you're serious.

It won't hurt your credit to do it once.

It's not that big of a deal. Free credit report. See how you're doing without having to pay for it or get spammed from all of those free websites.

if you're serious about it, then why would a credit report bother you.

Not entirely true. I'm looking at trucks right now and I've always been able to just hop on in trucks that cost around $40k without so much as a blink of an eye by the sales person. Also, when ever my parents by cars, they ask me to come along with them for my input and I have always taken out $65k cars without giving my license to the sales person. It depends on the car more than the price and it really just depends on the dealership and salesperson.

Bill

Oh, and before anyone asks, I'm 28.
