Well, on the way to sac state today my girlfriend and i dodged a 3 car pile up into a street cleaner and caltrans truck in the fastlane. The suv in front got a little scraped up, the car in the middle was compacted, and the poor little civic in back was totaled. I guess thats what happens when cars going 75 mph on the freeway come around a turn and up a bridge where the street cleaner runs out of shoulder... it sucked, we barely missed it. The street cleaner was almost completely in the fastlane and the caltrans truck was right behind it taking up just as much space. The suv was cut off by the street cleaner going 10mph and she was doing about 75. So if you drive fast on the freeway- watch out for street cleaners going 10 in the fastlane

When they clean the sides of the road, shouldn't there be some kind of huge LED sign, and what not warning traffic behind the Caltrans workers?

 

They should have an arrow truck following the sweeper. My guess is that was the caltrans truck behind the sweeper

 

That almost happened to me in santa cruz. I nearly pulled over in front of them to tell them to pull their heads out of their ***.

Less than a week later some drunk mexican guys plastered one of the concrete trucks in the same area.

 

it happen on 880 near oakland too, and i think almost everynight they were doing that, not sure if is cleaner, but huge trucks on fast line and going very slow. its around 12am

 

having the led lights on might not have helped too much- it was at like 10am... they didnt have any signs or anything on the caltrans truck, it was bad...
