straight pipes in CA?

I'm assuming they are illegal here in CA but i've seen so many people (mostly 240s and hondas) run loud a$$ pipes... is anyone running straight pipes on their subaru if so, how often do the police harass you about it?

You can run one, yes its illegal, yes your ears will bleed, yes the police will have a great excuse to pull you over, but go for it! ( Its just a fix it ticket most likely)

As long as you back into your driveway cops will only give you hassle if you ever start the engine.

Stock DP, and straight pipe catback is likely fine. Not really, really loud.

Turboback Straight Pipe (especially catless) would be stupid loud.

Yes, but still not legal. Muffler is required in the VC AFAIK, but as mentioned, it would be a fix it ticket since it is after cat.

Probably everyone on here has/had something illigal on their car. As long as you are prepared to deal with unwanted attention and potential consequences...do what makes you happy. Just don't start "cops have nothing better to do but harass" threads

There's an Evo X with straight pipes in my apartment complex. I don't think that's made him any new friends.

Straight pipes are annoying, but it's your car, so have at it.

I have an n1 catback and I get paranoid when a cop is behind me or next to me because if it look aftermarket and they want to pull you over they will. So don't be surprised if it happens.

also, I don't have a straight pipe on my car...yet. I'm just curious at the moment due to seeing some others running either straight pipes or loud as hell exhaust on the roads here

I have a catted perrin downpipe that I switch back and forth between a full 3" straight pipe and an invidia n1 race... I have had ny car loud for a couple years. I have been stopped once when I left a bar. Got a verbal warning and let go...

Btw I love my straight pipe... who needa to make freinds anyhow...
