Damn, sorry about the loss Anthony. Like others have said, I'll be on the lookout as well.

They can take apart the lock with a dent-puller. And sometimes, they can cut away at the carpet underneath the autolock and try to bend it out. It might damage the pedal and the metal piece underneath the carpet, but i'm sure the theives don't mind.

Good luck finding your car. I'm in Riverside, so if they drive it down here, I'll make sure they don't see daylight again.

Actually.. I don't thin its such a good idea to be posting about how thieves can by pass the suby alarms. By posting how they do it gives them the ammo to do it.

You don't think they don't already know . Of course they do. Security by obscurity isn't security, its hiding your head in the sand.

most thieves already know this, so I guess it's not big deal to post about it; there are devices sold that will break anti-theft devices, including the Club & Autolock. They're intended to be used only by locksmiths & repo-men, but well, you know......

As others mentioned, if an experienced thief wants your car bad enough, they probably can get it. I've had acquaintances with cars stolen right out of their own private garages (not carport or apartment garages)!

As others also noted, the best way to minimize the chances of your car being stolen is to use common sense:

---don't leave valuable items in plain sight in the interior
---don't park in dark &/or secluded areas
---get a decent aftermarket (factory ones aren't much of a deterrent) alarm with hood/door/window protection & starter kill.

The upgraded security package is pretty useless . Last year I didn't have my alarm remote with me and I accidently used the key to lock all the doors from the ouside which armed the alarm. When i came back and opened the car the alarm went off and the upgraded security killed the motor. All I had to do was lift up the plastic ebrake piece and unplug the security box and i was then able to start the car and drive off.

It doesn't matter if they want your car so bad! I used to know whole bunch kids who know how to steal car and start it. I just talked to my friend who knows a lot of these things like stealing car, bypassing the immoblizer or ECU to start the car, he said if things happen like that to a new model, those guys probably drive the same car or they know someone driving one and that's how they know how to start it, kill your alarm. Just some hints dude!

I thought that driveway looked familiar

Damn Anthony, I hope you find the guys who did this. People like that have no respect for anything or anybody and usually karma catches up with them in the long run. If the police don't catch them, someone will eventually, and hopefully cut their limbs off. I'm sure everything will work out for the better in the long run. Keep your head up.

i know quite a few ex-alarm installers, a guy that designed some features for (VSE), others that "know their way around alarms", and certified techs for dealerships, so I'm well aware that people with the proper knowledge & tools can quickly access any car & defeat security measures. An experienced thief can get almost any car if he wants it bad enough and given the opportunity.

To reiterate, the key to minimizing the chances of your car being stolen is NOT giving thieves easy targets AND prime conditions for them to work with. Car owners CAN minimize risks by employing common sense when parking your vehicle and using a moderate level of security deterrents as previously mentioned.

wow, talk about weak security. once in the car, it litterally takes only 5 seconds or less to do that in a hurry unless you have the arm extention.

Then it takes about 6 seconds. Just have to flip up the arm extension.

Anthony, you might want to try and call the major cities like Richmond and San jose, stolen cars seem to end up there. Like i said before ill have my dad let Berkely know.

As most have already said, I'll make sure to keep an eye out for your car. I usually spot any Subaru when I'm out driving anyways..

A long shot but....
Also maybe phone Thunderhill this weekend, I heard there's an open track this weekend for the S14 guys (my neighbor is going)...I wouldn't rule out someone stealing your car so they could track race it, particularly if they knew something about your mods and that you don't need plates to race at Thunderhill.
