bah... I used to drive my civic all up and down the coast. To LA. To washington. Etc.
On 16k/12k springs with 27mm sway bars and strait exhaust. I'm sure it was just as load (road noise, etc) and much stiffer than your sti. Not to mention the seats sucked even worse than ours do.
I will say this though... 04 and similar seats... SUCK!!! There is no lumbar support what so ever.
if you're gonna drive like that again I suggest buying yourself a lumbar pillow.

But I think like oneman says, get a lumbar pillow... the kind preggo women use (seriously) You'll be spending about $20-30 for the right one.
This "thinner" kind. Not the cheapie Kragen thick foam ones. You can't get the right kind for just $10.
Also, stick a thin but firm foam pad under your ***.

in 2003, a month after getting my STi, i drove to portand oregon.
that was a good 10 hour drive.
all i was concerned over was the sound system i just finished putting in prior to leaving, wouldnt die out on me...

Wow, I drove from the Virginia Beach, Virginia to Santa Rosa, CA driving 16 hours at a time. I've also driven from Santa Rosa to San Diego, back up here (Alameda), and up and back from Portland, Oregon twice and never a problem in the WRX.

WRX seats are way way more comfy than the STI seats. After my accident i didnt want to ride with my husband cus of our seats i rode in my friends WRX :P way better seats and the wagon didnt have the "STI" bounce haha. But i can see if you have a bad back its way way more harsh on the back, I probably will always now have problems on long drives. Driving to portland in august probably so i know i will have to make some stops.

1st gen WRX seats (my '02 bugeye anyway) were absolute hell on my back, just an hour or two in them and I'd need to see a chiropractor, in fact I was to the point of getting ongoing treatment for chronic back problems until I realized the seat was causing it all.
I put in a pair of Recaro "Style" model seats, and have driven days on end (Alcan 5000 rally in 2002 was 15 days straight in the car, Alcan Winter Rally 2004 was 10 then a day on a boat followed by 5 more) without any such problems whatsoever.
Other people have said they are fine in those stock seats but I just cannot sit them without serious problems.
