State Ref advice
State Ref advice
Hey fellow i-clubers,
Very long story short, I got pulled over because my exhaust was loud.
Got a ticket for modified muffler and modified intake. Both marked "No" as Correctable Violations.
I do not have the time or feel the need to change everything back to stock.
1.)Should I just schedule a court date and show up to the court without even contacting the state ref?
or
2.)Should I just go to court and pay the fine?
I havent received any notice in the mail and I got the ticket a little over a month now.
Which would be the best option? or is there a better way?

Honestly if it's just an intake and exhaust why shell out the $1,100 ticket? Just switch it back to stock until you see the ref, and swap your aftermarket stuff right back in. Good luck man.
Because if the ref sees it. it will be more then just the exhaust and an intake. more like turbo, FMIC, Gauges, etc.

Instead of going to the ref you can pay a fine, which varies. I got one in early 09 and the ticket in the mail was $450. I had too much stuff to swap so I just sent them a check and that was it. But If all you have is simple mods, just go back to stock, pass the test and prove it in court.

if they specifically did not ref you, court will most likely make it correctable wait forsomething in the mail. happened with my tint and exhaust ticket. go and have an arraignment and ask the judge to make it correctable you should be fine.

Intake was noted on the citation but I had many more bolt ons that he didn't notate. I think the more illegal parts they note on the citation, the more it can potentially cost (not sure on this so don't take my word for it).

maybe a dumb question, but does it have a sticker on the ticket that says "State ref sign off only?"
if it doesnt, pay it and walk away.
