Deciding between JBL component speakers and kicker component speakers which is the better brand?

Can I suggest something else? Diamond Audio Hex series

These will run circles around either of your choices. If you haven't heard them, you really must. The 5 1/4" has one of the most shallow mounting depth I've seen. These trully are a nice speaker.

Those speakers look nice, where do you get them. Factory direct, or is there a cheaper place?

Quarts are nice. Although hey hhave quite a bit of competition nowadays. In the mid 90's they were top of the game. Honestly I'd put the Diamond Hex 5.25" to a Quart Q. They sound that good.
Check ebay for the Hexs. They are available in Aluminum and Silk dome tweeter. To me it's a matter of preference. Aluminum for bright clear highs, silk for a warmer softer high.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to check them out. I prefer the metal tweets to the silks, but as you said, it's all personal preference.
