True... understanding that was what kept me driving a 1990 Honda for so long. You could almost fix most things with a hammer.
yeah, and that itself is also a long standing advantage of EVO over the Subarus that we're starting to catch up on. EVOs simply had cheaper parts from the vast size of the DSM market.
Even today, the cost of operating and fixing a modified Subaru lags behind the EVO is two critical areas: engine and transmission. The inexpensive parts and labor cost of built engines and transmissions in the EVO community IMHO is one of the biggest drivers in encouraging a lot of high horsepower streetcar setups
it just is a very very poorly made interior.
Oh, ok. I've never actually sat in an EVO, so I was just judging based on brief in-person glimpses and various pictures I've seen.

You'd be hard pressed to find an STI with the same amount of money put into it doing more than 450whp on a Mustang dyno. Which is like... far less than 590whp

I really like the X's interior (didn't really like the 9's gauges and dash). The seats are AMAZING and hella hold you tight and are Recaro's so you know they are legit as far as quality. The dash and gauges seem to be very solid, and I really like the white glowing gauges on the X, and with the newest '10 the LCD in the center is now full color (no STi has had that yet). I think it looks awesome, and is probably gonna be my next car.
1)The "Recaro" seats do not come out of the same high end factory as their stuff for race and high end cars. It comes out of a sub factory that uses lower quality stitching and lower quality leather. They are NOT the same quality seats you would get in a car like the GT3.
2)Seem to be solid, drive it you will hear what I meant. Look, I considered very hard the evo I even pondered waiting for the evo wagon to come out here. In the end the low resale value, low customer service ratings, and the low build quality made me walk away and decide to stick with Subaru for now.
Just remember your dropping 40k on a car that the moment you drive it off the lot, is worth about 22k.

Haven't got a chance to drive one yet, Dealers are pretty hard nosed about it unless you have a loan and are about to buy.
I agree, and think a used 08 would probably be the best choice.
You're right those are EVO 9's....which are completely INFERIOR to EVO X's

It's crazy you know, turbo for turbo, the EVO X is making the same power as cammed EVO 8/9's, but WITHOUT cams. Utterly crazy. They are supposedly spanking the older evos on the track, too. So with the better interior too, despite the extra weight it's better car all around.
Compare that with the '08 STI which got a lukewarm reception when everybody found out it wasn't much better than the previous model...

You know you can get a base EVO X with license and registration for around 26k OTD (in Nevada/Texas/Oregon, as this is pre-tax), right?
