Everything else around Buddhism is due to philosophers like Confucius who tried to help others understand what Buddhism is/does for the common man such as attaining "enlightenment", ancestor worship (what it translates from in Japanese - really a means of honoring your past, not worship in the way that western religions mean), and honor your elders and yourself.
I can live with "Compassion to all living things"...I don't need any philosophers to tell me what that means though

I read that he had just gotten a bad performance review. In the US military, this is a death sentence to an officers career.
Any O-3 or above that gets a bad performance review or article 15 will almost certainly never get promoted again. As I understand it, he had just gotten a bad performance review, it looks to me like that may be part of what triggered this.
I just went through something similar at work for me, I was passed over for promotion, my boss promoted someone jr. to me (less experience, less education, less technical knowledge) to be my new boss - and now my career there is dead, there is no place for me to go...I can't sleep, I can't stop thinking about the time I stayed when i had previous job offers, now I'm a DB.

man.. i had to QRF forced protection@ Mathers Airbase this weekend because of what happened.. i stood at a gate for 12 hours for 2 days..

He skips go and goes straight to jail and the death penalty.
On one end, I would rather have him live a long slow death, but on the other hand, I would rather keep my money in my pocket rather then keep all these guys on death row or life in prison and drain the economy worse than it already is.
