Without seeing the rotors, it's tought to tell. What worries me is that the car had to get on the ground somehow. If there's not enough clearance for a low-rise jack, it's possible that it was dropped from whatever height it was at.

If the car was cold, and the rotors not really thing, they might be ok: you don't use the edge of the rotor for anything, so as long as it's not warped, you'll be ok. I'd check the studs really carefully, though; if the car was dropped, the rotors could have damged or stressed them. If you end up needing help, I'm sure some of us Sac area guys will do what we can.

the rotors might be ok if the car wes set down gently. the thing to really check is the gravel gaurds behind them. those could be easily bent and be rubbing on the rotor. sorry to hear about the car, hope your buddy gets his revenge.

Ans yes, the WRX is one of the easiest cars to get into. This is because the front windows do not go into a frame, but just sit on the rubber strip. Any thin stick (slim-jim) can be slid between this strip and the window, then all that is needed is one light push on the power lock button.

Even still with my slim-jim there has only been one car I havent got into in less than 2 minutes.

Also, because the center console panels dont require any tools to un-do....you can disble a wrx alarm in a few seconds...pull the e-brake shroud off by hand and the alarm control is sitting right there looking at you....or the easiest way is to pop the hood and cut the wires to the alarm horn...this can be done in less than three honks of the horn.

As for the car being on the ground, I would opt for the tow truck idea.
not that this information is hard to find...but thanks for posting this on the board.

I agree with you but if you ever get into this situation, don't go overboard. Many years ago my friend came back to his car after eating at a restaurant. He found this guy in there and ordered him out of the car. While he has the guy by the collar a glance inside the vehicle told him his stereo was missing. He asked the guy where his stereo was and the guy replied that he didn't know. My friend patted the guy down, found the stereo concealed in a special pocket, then proceeded to whup the guys ****. He put him face down on the ground, then took the guys arm and twisted it until he broke it. The guy was screaming and crying in pain. My friend called the cops and, not unexpectedly, my friend was then arrested for assault. The thief wasn't even 18 years old. The kid's family refused to press charges and the case was dropped. Be careful if you do anything more than call the cops about a crime in progress.

Sorry for the thread 'jack but I thought I should mention this for everyone's benefit.

good bit of information! However, when it comes to my baby....that would be well worth it....to spend the night in jail with the satisfaction of knowing that the thief got what he deserved and wont soon forget it.

thats just my 2¢ tho

on that note...that tells me that if this kid is doing this isht....his parents need to discipline him more/properly, plus the fact that his parents DID NOT press charges...tells me that they KNOW he got what he had coming to him.

you mess with the bull, you get the horns.

I think you missed the point.....he was lucky the folks didn't press charges or he could have done more time in jail and or faced probation and fines/law suits from the family.

I caught somone trying to break into my truck at bart years ago and I ran up behind him...for a fat *** I can be pretty stealth just ask my brothers...haaa....anyways I came up behind him and slammed his face off my window and looked down at him on the ground and told him to run. He did.

No unnecessary force..no nothing.

This guys friend was not so smart to sneak up on a possibly armed criminal....either was I. But point being his friend would have been just as well off to sock the guy a time or two and restrain him.....it was the broken arm that got the unnessary damage and the arrest. No broken arm...no problems.

I used to live in hayward. My civic got messed with zero times. In newark...once and once only. It usually doesn't take much to get local thieves off your car for good.

The nicer the car the more the attention the higher percentage chance of getting hit. Ify you catch someone you don't need to kill them alla American History X. Just chase them off before they get something or call the cops....then attempt to restrain. No need to get yourself shot or stabbed or beat down by the 2 other guys with the guy you see for a replaceable object.
