Get close enough to your car and it will be pulling almost straight up. I know that point isn't supposed to take that stress, but you might be able to do it just enough that it compresses the suspension on the back corner so you could get a low-ride jack under the frame rail.

As stupid as it sounds, does he still have stock wheels?
Get about 8 people, and you should be able to lift one corner of the car to get a jack in, then a wheel on, then you will be able to go from there. Do one of the corners, then hopfeully you can get to the rear diff or the crossmember in front (NOT THE OIL PAN) and elevate it enough to shove a block of wood or something under the rails so you can jack at the other 3 corners.....

good way to jack up the guys bumper. Trying to pull strait up with a winch that litterally can't pull strait up unless it has like a 16 inch lift.

getting a bunch of people to pick up his wrx will cost him more money.....bent side panels are all bad. you could do this with old school american cars with metal bumpers and what not....not anymore.

sorry to be a dick but I dont' suggest either of these suggestions.

I suggest you pull the side skirts off and use a low ride jack...should work just fine.

good news is he got the car up with the help of a neighbor and is borrowing my stockers right now...

the bottom of his steering column is all jacked up tho and he just looks like hes driving a stolen car for the time being...

and he just had the factory security system, and they simply cut/unpluged the siren...

Yeah, yeah. Most people with winches are running somewhat tall trucks, and it was just an idea. I don't know how the tow hook works on a WRX, but I assumed it attached through the skin to the reinforcement bar, and a small bit of tension just to redistribute weight off that corner, might let you get a jack under it.

As for people hoisting it, there are places you can lift the car that are structurally sound. I'm not saying grab the fender and yank up, but all you have to do is pull the sideskirt (if you have the clearance to do so) and get enough people that you can lift the car evenly like 2-3 inches. You get a lot of people doing it, the load is distributed. I't's not like you have to get the car 9 feet off the ground.

Anyways, a tow company will probably have some ides on how to do it, this isn't *that* uncommon, it's just a serious PITA.

those wheels are nothing too special so you might as well forget finding those unless you get lucky

if they were a rare wheel then maybe.

True true....good call. You probably would be able to get enough on that one corner to fit a jack under then go from there.

But hey....mute point since he got it up and going.

I agree with you but if you ever get into this situation, don't go overboard. Many years ago my friend came back to his car after eating at a restaurant. He found this guy in there and ordered him out of the car. While he has the guy by the collar a glance inside the vehicle told him his stereo was missing. He asked the guy where his stereo was and the guy replied that he didn't know. My friend patted the guy down, found the stereo concealed in a special pocket, then proceeded to whup the guys ****. He put him face down on the ground, then took the guys arm and twisted it until he broke it. The guy was screaming and crying in pain. My friend called the cops and, not unexpectedly, my friend was then arrested for assault. The thief wasn't even 18 years old. The kid's family refused to press charges and the case was dropped. Be careful if you do anything more than call the cops about a crime in progress.

Sorry for the thread 'jack but I thought I should mention this for everyone's benefit.
