So I got my first traffic ticket today
fight by written declaration... that way if the pig does decide to take the case then he wont get paid. they get paid to go to court but not to write the written declatation thing.

i would just take traffic school before you don't have a choice..... it is possible that they will reject your request for traffic school after wwritten declaration...
trust me... i speak from experience. I have court for my 3rd and 4th point the next couple months.

Tell me. Do the cops go after all the SUV's that guzzle gas and polute much more than a modified exhaust on a WRX?
I read on I-club how you poor bastards get pulled over all the time in CA just because you are into your car and work on it. Fun harmless hobbie, right? It is obvious to me the cops are using that law to pull you over for little "probable cause".

But rolling "just a little" still fails to meet the word of the law which is along the lines of "full and complete stop"

fight it by mail.
as for the exhaust, if you have all your factory emissions equipment in place, don't sweat it. go to a test only smog station and ask if they do noise certification testing. if they do, and you pass, present the certificate at the courthouse and just pay the administrative fee to get it taken care of.

What type of exhaust do you have? Greddy usually comes with some type of certificate that shows it complies. You could provide that to the judge if you don't need to get a smog done.
I hate that area. I never go through there, as well as D.C. /Broadmoor if I could avoid it.

I was pulled over near the Hillside Blvd. I have an Hks Hi power exhaust. But like I said, he didn't give me a ticket for it because it was too loud, he gave it to me because "the piping is illegal" and that "it is illegal to change the stock exhaust."
What a bunch of baloney
But what would be better, swap out to stock exhaust, pay the $10 fix it ticket (or are there any other fees I don't know about?) or fight it? I'm guessing it would be easier to just swap to the stockers

If you do have to get the smog, the ref will just signoff when it has passed. So that there is about $65 then admin cost for the court would be $10.
Stop sign ticket is about $210, but that was in SF for someone I know.

The judge should toss this one right out, 27151 says its illegal to modify it for more sound output, but if yours meets the SPL limits they have no case against you whatsoever.
