It sounds like it, it can't be a heatshield... i removed the loose ones a while back

maybe one of your gaskets slipped? Recheck all your bolts to make sure they're all tight.

I have a feeling it may be a gasket, but they were held in place by the screws and i used an impact to get the screws in

Did you torque down after the impact?

Maybe you spun a bolt with the impact or one backed out.
