the wrx with summer tires will still get the job done. putting chains on is a pain in the ***
Terrible advice. Never use summer tires below freezing temps - the compound hardens and will not grip. Add in some snow/ice and you are risking the lives of you, family and others on the road.

You can always buy my set of snow wheels and tires that i'm selling. They're priced to move.

Do NOT go to Tahoe in the winter time with summer tires, particularly in light of the fact that you will have your family with you, and be sharing the road with many other families.

You can read right? Cause I said a WRX with summer tires will get the job done. Never said to do it?

you guys make me laugh
Summer tires on a WRX in the winter? I made that mistake once, pulled out of my friends driveway in the morning up at Tahoe Donner, and proceeded to slide down the street through 2 stop signs at about oh maybe 8-9 mph but absolutely no hint of brakes, traction or any control whatsoever.
So yeah be my guest- you can try yourself and see if you have better luck, but I have to say I am really grateful that nobody else happened to be trying to get through either of those intersections, (not that we would have hit very hard, but it would have messed up my day for sure)

I've got kinda old (~5 years old, maybe 7-8k left according to Costco tech) m&s rated michelins and was considering making the trip up after my game on Saturday, so there is high potential for some snow on the ground. I'm thinking this setup is kinda borderline as I would image the age of the tires would likely make them a little harder, right? I'm just running through my options right now and I'd love to take the wagon up I'm not sure how smart that would be.
