I had a question....im about to buy an invidia dp not sure whether to get the catted pipe or not catted, is it a huge deal when i gotta get my car smogged? (am i gonna have to switch it back out to stock or can i get away with just leaving it in there and me passing the emissions test without them saying anything)

 

you will not pass. Catted and Catless are both just as illegal

 

I'd recommend getting a catted even though, if the tester cares about visual, you won't pass with either. However, with a catted dp, you won't get anywhere the same amount of raw fuel smell, you'll have a higher chance to pass the sniffer, and you only lose... 5-10hp at most?

Also, with a high flow cat, if you put the heat shield on, there's less chance a cop will notice.

though I would just swap it back out when it comes time for smog, its only once every 4 years. And either way please get a catted DP, the new hi flow metal substrate cats flow so well your only talking a couple HP difference.

I dunno, depends. I got my old car smogged with a FMIC, CAI, TBE, blah blah blah. It passed. I know it wouldn't have passed visual with the CAI and all, but the numbers were fine.
