Silva vs GSP

Hopefully this happens, watching live as Silva tears apart some guy and mocking him in the middle of the ring. Silva definitely needs a challenge, and GSP is definitely a grinder.

If GSP does what he always does (taking people down and passing guard) he'll beat Silva easily (through unanimous decision most likely). But once again, he's hesitant to go up a weight class. I'm sure Dana White's gonna offer him a boatload of money to sway his decision though.

Damien Maia doesn't stand a chance against Silva tonight unless he can take him down. But Silva's gonna have none of that. I'm guessing Maia gets knocked out in the 1st round.

didn't watch the fight but I hate it when Silva just messes around acting all cocky and stuff. He's like Rashad Evans in terms of cockiness but lightyears better and can finish pretty much anyone in the first 2 rounds. Even still, Silva should've just ended the fight as soon as he could.

GSP 5'11" fighting at 170 pounds
Silva 6'2" and has fought at 185 and 205.

Silva looks great at 185. GSP looks great at 170. Maybe they could do a catch weight fight for the fans but I think GSP putting on 15 pounds to fight Silva would be a mistake for him. All the risk would be on GSP. Hell he put on muscle for the Hardy fight and still was right at 170.

Say he struggles but hits the 185. Silva drops to 185 but is fighting at 200. That's 15 pounds and 3 inches of height he gives up. He's a far better wrestler but Silva's knees, kicks and accuracy are gonna make that nil. So it comes to strikes and Silva wins that fight.

I personally don't think he should do it.

Hell look what happens to BJ when he goes up in weight. Doesn't look his best. I could see a catch weight fight. Same with BJ and GSP. It's a better match up at catch weight.

I'd like to see Dan Henderson fight Silva again.

^ I just finished watching an hour long interview ufc did with GSP in abu dhabi, and he was asked several times when he would move up to 185 or when he would fight Silva. He was hesitant to move up because of some of those reasons u listed. Plus he also stated that moving up in weight, it would be hard for him to lose that weight he gained to go back to 170 healthily and defend his welterweight belt. He said that he doesn't want to go up and down with his weight.

He also stated that if he were to move up to 185, he would stay there and not go back down to 170 for a while.

Plus fighting championship matches is what interests him, not 3 round fights where "fights don't seem to matter as much". Basically what he's trying to say is he doesn't want to start over again in another weight class, unless he doesn't have his welterweight belt anymore (one of the reasons he doesn't want to move up).

watching the fight now, they said if Silva wins against Maia, which he already did, he'll drop down to 170 to fight GSP.

While I'm thrilled at the idea, not so smart to cut that much weight for Silva though.

If he drops that much more weight I think he'll get manhandled by GSP. Only hope would be his superior stand up. Get GSP around the head and knee him alla franklin.

I'm kind of surprised that frankie beat BJ. BJ is solid at 155. He'll be back and get it again. Seems the dude just has issues being consistent. He's insane one fight then flat the next. Did not see this one though.

BJ's a typical local boy: when's he motivated to kick ***, he'll go all out; otherwise, he'll just kinda slack off and ride the wave (figuratively speaking).
