IMO it's not worth the money... you'll take a heavy hit on the 07, even private sale. with the current economy, people can get a very good deal on 08 and dealership would rape you on the trade-in as usual.

But hey, if you got the $, go for it! You only live once.

09 STi is rumored to have direct injection.

I'm thinking you'll lose about $5,000. Why don't you use that budget on your current STI.

For what it's worth, I feel like the new STi body style is too bland--it looks way too similar to a Mazda 3 for my taste, not to mention every other hatchback on the market.

I love the fact that there's more room, although the tail end looks have suffered from it. It's really up to you and your financial situation. If it's only a few k more, I'd do it.
yeah, and they are also breaking the ring lands on the pistons REALLY easily. stick with the 07

Try something different... save a little more and get a 135i. At least test drive something different before buying another STI. Your experience may vary...
Yup. The 135 is a bit quirky looking, and a bit soft, but it is quick. Sleeper, kinda.

It's nice to have options available but I have a feeling I might stay w/Subaru
we'll see this tuesday
If nothing else, the Evo is worth a test drive, just for comparison purposes.

If you do get an '08, don't get those five spoke wheels. Yuck.

You have bumped your ****ing head...the 2008 STi seats are no better than the lowrise, whiplash-inducing seats in my '64 Corvair.

Looks like you folks are on the same page as myself.
Though it is fun to ponder what a shiny new car would look like in my driveway, the misses won't approve anyways.
I'm keep my SWP GD, atleast for another yr! we'll see what changes, if any, to the 09 to sway me the other way
Thanks for all the input!

Personally, I would rather have a SWP '07 STi than a new one. The hatch is cool on the new ones but I would need to give it a few years. I didn't like the '04 STi either.

[QUOTE=Meant to quote guy above paul about sticking with 07?[/QUOTE]

Sorry dude, not that it makes me the authority but I have had 2 sti's one I put 50k on the other is fp greened ewg'ed and just chills right now with 6k on it. I spend a lot of time on the forums and talking to smart people.

The fact is;

the 07 blow the piston ringland on cycl 4 or something very easily and they are horribly plauged by them. Not the 08's, there may have been a few early ones but there is no known problem, where as everyone on iwsti knows the 07 blows them on stock tune and there is a log of quite a number of people.

08 is safe it just doesnt offer much more for the price, especially with economy in the shatbag.

my opinion is get a new sti when they offer some more performance upgrades, like more power or some performance mod you can't live without. Then you'll really be happy with your purchase, and something more suited to you might come along in the meantime who knows.
