shift getting sloppier?
People who have a short-shifter and have experienced tranny damage should chime in right about now, because the people who have them with no trouble after thousands of miles of use have already commented.
I would be one of those satisified customers who regularly track and autoX my car with no problems and a short shifter with front and rear bushings.

^ yea thats wat i mentioned before about ppl who have kartboys, i've never heard of anything bad, but i dont work at a shop or anything, so dont know any repair stories.

Ive had mine on the car since 1500 miles or so and Ive got about 42000 and havent had a single issue with the tranny. When I changed my tranny fluid at 30000 miles the tranny fluid was still pretty clean (no metal shavings or anything) so iono.

I'm rarely on this board anymore. Someone sent me a link to this. I find it REALLY funny that our shifters are causing blown trannys. Please send me some proof of this. I've been making Subaru Short Shifters for over 10 years now. Well over 15,000 shifters sold.
Our shifter nor ANY shifter will hurt a tranny. only the nut behind the wheel can hurt a tranny. PERIOD. There is no additional wear on the shifter forks. This is 100% B.S. You see that little universal joint? yup. that will take an offset angle convert it to the angle you need. just like a steering shaft on every car out there.
why does SOA sell a complete linkage. (BTW its identical to the stock linkage thats in the car now EXCEPT the width of the center pivot is narrower.) Is because thats how THEIR supplier send it to them. Its easier for them to install a complete unit on the assembly line like that vs having them to install just a shifter on the linkage.
I'd love it if you could email me some proof with pictures of damage cause by our shifter or any other one out there.

I've played with/installed/used/abused countless Kartboy shifters over the years and wouldn't hesitate to put one in my best friend's car, mother's car or my own car. To each their own, though.
Tell me this. Why isnt there anyone that knocks off the SPT/STi setup? YET there are many out there that knockoff our shifters.
to the OP it sounds like the pivot bushings are wearing out. Contact the guys a Turn in concepts. but OH NOOO you'll be putting in aftermarket parts....

i had a kartboy ss on my 05 wrx that i had. put it in at 1000 and had it in all the way tp 97000 when i traded it in and never had any problems with my transmission. i will be getting it again for my 08 sti soon.

i dropped by tom's shop and had him throw on the SS before i even had 1k on the clock. i'm now at over 71k... tranny fluid changed at 30k and 60k. no signs of dying. autocross and track the car. live in san francisco proper so you know this thing gets a workout.
The old AutoHQ manager, Brandon, made lots of wild claims about oil changes that he pulled straight out of his **** and it led to AutoHQ losing a lot of respect in BAIC community:

So is Bryan or Kevin going to chime in and explain how and why a Kartboy SS will damage your tranny, because if you don't it's gonna look like your trashing Tom at Kartboy's business, (which he has spend years building up and has been a BIG friend to the Subaru community) without offering evidence.

I've had my KartBoy SS on for over a year now without any issues. I've run one rally-x with it and used to drive the twisties daily. When my tranny fluid was changed it was perfect. I didn't realize I've had it on for that long, or I would have said so earlier.
Of course, I am part of that large group of one exceptions.
