So sad. I truly didnt expect them to make the playoffs so I'm not too dissapointed. You can't argue that blues was the better team.
The wife is happy, no more playoff beard.

Thats what my brother was saying too, but I think he's done the best he could with the team he has. Plus he has the best coaching record for the Shark's franchise. I think Doug Wilson needs to stop trading off the young up comers and clean house with some of the older players we have, cause we just got out maned/out handled/out scored/out everything by a very young team.
I'm thinkin Clowe (which sucks cuz he is my favorite player) and Marleau are gonna be somewhere else next season....
Clowe just didnt get it done like last season, and I hate to say it, was more of a liability than than a help. During the playoffs, it seemed everytime you heard his name there was a 'turnover' or 'fans on the shot' right after.
Marleau, as great as hes been over the years, hasnt produced in the playoffs as much as he should. As much as I dont feel the blame is all him, sending him somewhere else would be the biggest signal that management has had enough fail.

The SOG for the Sharks has been really low compared to the past few years. Against the Blues defense they really had no chance. In past years the Sharks offense would get off as many shots as possible when they fell behind. This season was more of them failing to get into position and mostly firing the puck directly at the defender or at the goalie.
Their defense has never been good, so watching the offense fall off like that, you just knew they were in trouble before they even hit the ice.

The whole team is terrible when it hits the playoffs. I think the SJ Sharks need a big makeover just to bring in some new light and not have that "It's the playoffs, we will never win" mentality. They just crumble and as someone else pointed out, they played like they were trying to climb a fortress of a defense. No scrambling at all in front of the other goal tenders net. I mean seriously you can't devise an offense to have a double screen in front? How about one in front and one on the side?
And I'm not dumb, the reason why Lindstrom (Red Wings) is friggin awesome and still pwnin' in the NHL is because he does lots of SHOT PASSES / flat shots that will hit some skates/sticks off to the side of the net and they get tipped, or they get stopped in front of the goal and the other players can spin around and shoot the puck. You don't need straight shots on goal, as a matter of fact most of the time it's tipped/side shots.
Sharks did none of this, either trying to be tic tac toe, or just plain boring shots without much screening.
As strong as the team is, I'd have to sack half the team and rebuild because it's just sad to see them play or get dominated on. Their effort looks like 40% of the regular season.

my wife was sad but happy about the "beard" coming off.
i wasn't surprised to see game 5 fall apart, watching the Sharks trying to send one man in and filling the neutral zone with bodies with a ONE GOAL LEAD. that was pure stupidity and not taking advantage of the possession game that was actually fairly dominant in the 2nd period. the Sharks simply don't have the defensive talent to sit back like that, especially when Niemi gives up fat juicy USDA Prime rebounds.
ultimately the best team won this series, which doesn't always happen in the playoffs, but i don't think anyone truly expected us to walk over the Blues. especially trying to make stretch passes through the neutral zone that never get caught. the Blues boring hockey + Elliot may get them the cup.
i think the bright side is that Joe Thornton played his *** off. TSN coverage of the handshake asked "is this the last time we see Marleau in a Sharks uniform?" maybe Roenick's right... Patty does seem rather gutless after this performance.
i think this team still has two legitimate years with a chance at the cup if tMac doesn't hand off the line blender to DW. i'm thinking Clowe and Marleau may be gone, probably Moore, definitely Vandermeer, and hopefully White. but GODDAMMIT FIX THE PK.
