the actual job wasnt bad....in fact, now that i think about it, it was easy as hell....but my managers had their heads firmly lodged up their azzez and the GAP INC is only concerned with how things are selling and the best way to sell...not the best way to serve the customers needs. I had to go through all these stupid selling workshops that basically all revolved around common courtesy and common sense, but they took everything away from those two aspects by saying u have to do it this way or have to say this and that, and always ALWAYS add on, always suggest more items....it just got annoying, especially when I was the highest seller, sold the most items, and had the highest average transaction amount most of the time i was there and I WASNT doing things the way they wanted me too....go figure. I think that at a different BR, things would be somewhat better, I was at the one in Carmel, down by Monterey. One of the larger stores, like in the Stanford shopping center or on Grant Ave in SF would be better too...so I guess it was mostly my specific manger staff.....one of which had her head on straight and I really did like her, and I do miss her, she was a good friend...the rest, well, I had been there longer than one, and she was originally hired as a sales asociate like myself, so then she kinda went on a power trip...that was fun
and i wont even get started on the store manager. But I think a different BR would be fine, I have just been there, done that....also there isnt a lot of money involved with retail, and personally, GAP INC doesnt pay their employees jack sh!+. BR is a good first job, Gap would be also, so dont get me wrong, I just got stuck with a bad staff.

hahaha, yeah i worked at BR for 3 years, started when i was 17, im gonna be 20 in 7 days now. As long as u have a clean, well groomed appearance and are courteous u will be considered. they might start u out in the stock room, which is cool, u dont have to deal with azzholes all day long. the pay isnt too much tho, thats the thing, although at the larger stores u will get more, but i started at 7.00 an hour and when i quit i was making 9.50 and i was the highest paid sales associate. I would say as long as u know how to treat people with respect, are positive, and respectful, and are willing to help people out and offer suggestions, then u wouldnt have a problem...but be forwarned, u will get frustrated and u will have to deal with people that u will just want to biatch slap from time to time. lets face it, the world is full of stupid people and working retail, u will encounter ur fair share. But it is a good experience, u will learn good people skills, as well as responsability and it will show u rewards for going the extra mile.
