Not true. I've heard this myth before. It's a simple rule of mixtures to determine the viscosity when making a solution or mixture.

Just use Motul and it'll fix your problems. Way too many stories about scotty's cocktail. I had some synchro problems and a shifting problem in my 6mt and Motul fixed everything.

well, what would you reccomend. my transmission is hella huming loud and making like a wiered grinding sound when i let go of the gas ???

That doesn't sound like a synchro's problem to me and this cocktail primarily addresses synchro's issies FWIC. Maybe a fresh portion of Extra-S? Or Motul 75w90? Personally I'd be careful with the cocktail.

If your trans is making noise, it has a mechanical issue that no oil will fix.
I suggest that you take it to a competent shop for proper diagnosis.

I have 200K on my stock tranny and have used nothing but, lightweight shockproof for about the last 120K. Still shifts smooth. I know that it's not recommended for 6 speeds but, it seems to work well on the 5 speeds.
