Indash navigation questions, need advice
Basically my window got smashed in and my indash oem clarion navigation system got jacked, along with a few harnesses and some crap in my car. I'm looking for advice on which indash navigation would work in my 09, price would have to be under $2600 (thats what oem cost). I just bought an 08+ 6 disc and the harnesses do not match up. My insurance company is also moving very slow on all of this. Any advice would be great. Thanks audio gurus/baic

Definitely not an audio guru myself but I've heard good stuff about the kenwood dnx series ICE. Couple of my friends have it in their 07's but for 2600 I believe you range is very very wide. Gurus please correct me if I'm wrong

I'm not meaning to bag on you but In-Dash GPS Navigation is pretty much the bottom of the barrel. Everyone uses a Iphone or a stand-alone GPS Navigation unit most of the time now because most in-dash units have issues with updating maps and correctly displaying traffic.
If you are really going this route though I think something like this JVC with a detachable face would be, by far one of your best options:
http://www.amazon.com/JVC-Double-DIN...pr_product_top
It allows you to update your maps to sync with google maps, will hook up all your media devices and generally be awesome for only 700 bucks.
I would generally recommend if you want a big 2 Dinn headunit like that to get a multimedia center instead but I know there's different strokes for different folks. Good luck!

sorry to hear that the head unit did not work for you... don't know why it wouldn't
i would check out pioneer... i got my current head, the avic-x710bt (which has navigation) for like $600 because they were running some special and it was marked down from $900, i believe. i also got it around this time last year.

Pioneer has had a bad rap the last few years, their systems don't have the easiest interfaces. Rarely do they have updates to their navmaps but once a year and generally have been considered of poorer quality.
For what Tdub is looking for I don't think Eclipse is a good option compared to the JVC I listed because;
1. No faceplate removal
2. No realtime map updates
3. More expensive
But Tdub has to figure out what he wants to spend and what features matter most to him.

i've been using a pioneer avic d3 for over 3 years now, i'm still pretty happy w/it. no real problems with out of date maps or anything. i'd go to bb and just paya around with a couple and see what you like. I'd personally get another pioneer in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the input guys. I've been researching and my insurance is being a pain in the *** (go figure.) I have an iphone so nav isn't really necessary for me. But from the sounds of it they didn't want to just send me a check to repair it myself like when I was rear ended.

Pioneer's quality over the last 2 to 3 years has severely dropped off. They used to make great units, and if you have one from 4 years ago you probably got a good one. But new ones are bricking up and generally becoming a PITA to deal with. Eclipse is great, their pricing is a tad high, but nice units.
I bought my pioneer f700bt open box from an online retailer last year and then did the modded software upgrades to it. I get some issues with the deck once in a while but I'm pretty sure it was cause I kind of messed up the software upgrade. I guess its time to do a complete reinstall or something.
Other than that, I've always used pioneer decks and love them.
