It would take the organizers of the SJGP hooking up with the touring car series organizers and coordinating so they both ran in SJ that week.
It's totally out of the question for this year, planning for this event runs all year, and calendars for both series get published the year before, so they might be able to work it out for 2008 if they start working on it now.

I would LOVE to see grand touring cars. open wheels is nice and all, but road racing with cars I can recognize, man that would be awesome. I mean part of racing is admiring the aesthetic beauty of the cars...and i gotta say touring cars look much better than open wheel.

my friend owns Bill Auberlens Turner motorsports BMW, the Yellow/blue one used in speed challenge. it came with 300 lbs of lead in the passenger seat since it dominated. that thing is sick.

i never really loved open wheel...it really means something when you can have touring cars fly past you and be like, thats awesome since its a street car.

Yup...
USTCC and GRAND-AM. Both were dropped because feedback for them wasn't positive.
Most people I guess don't want to see touring cars there, which is lame, but most of the people who go to that race want to see formula cars.
