rice.... socal style..
As stupid as I think it looks, you all act like your car is better...
Carmod is in the eye of the owner, not what others think of it. I see the work and detail done on it. Do I like it, no, would I do that to a car, no, but do I see a ton of work..yes. Thats why I hate the whole "rice" thing. People bag on rice for being all show no go, but to some, that is what they want. Hell ive built 6 show cars in my life so far, all of them top honor cars in their class, 4 of them were full show, and 1 was a trailer queen (Candy brandy purple 85 nissan w/painted and chrome hydrolics and double diamond Z frame, 6 pumps, 12 batteries)
Why bag on others, just snicker to yourself and move on. Hell half the cars I saw at HIN were jokes...but they still had work put into them.

omg that thing can't even turn, what happens if it hits a speed bump? lol
IMHO, there is a distinction between putting in a lot of work and putting in good work. In other words, there is a difference between just doing things to your car versus doings things right. For instance, if someone were to take their Civic to the nearest Kragen and bought every APC part they had and just slapped it all on, they would've undoubtedly put in "work." However, I don't think anyone would agree that the result is "good."
Ok as an example, at HIN I saw a beautiful scion TC, shaved door handles, shaved molding, Volvo (not sure the series) tail lights, Molded in projector headlights, F1 style (open slot) fenders, with the same done to the rear, full ground effects kit. Painted black with orange and red ghost flames, and a full chromed out motor. This was one clean car, yet people would walk by it and mutter "ricer"

as to blacked out tail lights...I like them, pondered blacking out the foresters lights all the way around to carry the black and silver look up from the rims. Again its a show car thing, and I plan on the XTi to be a show and go car

there are many different types of car enthusiasts out there.
most of us just tend to be for power over show.
and i think we tend to call anything thats built for show a ricer

i'm agreeing with you just because some one bolts on a bunch of ugly parts or cheap go fast goodies, it doesn't make it "rice" some times it's just what people can afford at the time and don't want to wait and save $$$ for the quality parts that most of the people on this site have. and to who ever bag's on ricer's i'm pretty sure that at one time you where jocking on a Honda or Acura and that you haven't all way's been a Subie fan boy.
so i'm here in disney for the weekend....
..... and ran into this beauty as i was driving out of the lot.......
...... now i remembered why i refuse to move down here... traffic and constant instigation by these guys...... much worse than the norcal versions...

enjoy!

oh hey guess what!? everything is TINTED!!! I KID YOU NOT!!! all the windows are tinted, the WINDSHIELD is tinted! the Tail lamps are tinted (smoked overlays)...... and i swear that i'm not kidding when i say this.. .but even the SIDEVIEW MIRRORS ARE TINTED (or have an overlay of some sort)
seriously WTF!!

Basically, NorCal has much older roads and less of them and has much less room for new infrastructure than SoCal.
And for heavy traffic driving style, it's much more dangerous in NorCal, people drive 45 in traffic and then slam on their brakes at the last second. Much smoother flow of traffic in SoCal, better for the people that drive stick.

Raised in the Bay and lived in Pomona for 5 years while at college...First, traffic not as bad in NorCal?, you are mistaken. Maybe like 10 years ago NorCal's traffic was cool, but **** hit the fan when I moved back. NorCal = less freeways, slower drivers, hella FOB's that can't drive, and cops everywhere. SoCal = More freeways (if one is jammed, cut-over to another in < 10 mins), faster drivers, deticated carpool lanes, and less CHP.

Man you are not kidding, I would say 90% of the NorCal drivers couldn't deal with the 10 at rush hour. Bumper to bumper at 70mph 7 lanes wide and everyone has a "screw you" attitude...GODS I miss Socal drivers.
