Seriously, nothing works better than an 870.
10mm is really expensive, which means you're less likely to practice with it often. I went the rout of .357sig/.40sw and .45acp for mine as the ammo is fairly cheap, so I know I'll practice, and both have plenty of stopping power.

I'd love a .45 Sig, but don't currently have the funds, plus the time spent with it might hurt the feelings of my 1911. The sig I have right now is the .40 with an extra .357 bbl, which is plenty fun for now.

As long as you keep the pistol unloaded in a locked container...glovebox doesn't count...you're legal.
I have tried to get a permit in Sac county & the deputy laughed at me for even trying.
El Dorado county is a little better.

damn OneManArmy thats crazy
i use to always carry my gun in my car but the more i thought about it over the years i now only keep it at the house, i figured having it in the car is to risky... last thing i need is something like what happened to you happen to me and my *** gets scared and cocky and instead of driving away i confront him and put myself in a position were i end up using it getting me in a hug heap of ****
i prey to GOD no one ends up breaking into my house while im home... owning a gun is something that must be done with alot of respect and restraint, ive already told myself that i wont defend my car or my property ONLY my life.
i just can't imagine the hell ill go thru if i every do have to use my gun to stop someone from harming me, why? because California laws protect criminals and prosecutors only charge the innocent.

my thoughts exactly. It's why I've never bothered.
But if this guy comes on to my property or runs me off the road it'll basically be me against him and my mag lite doesn't stop bullets. The road I'm not to worried about as I can outrun the guy or drive him into a police trap....
it will say this...**** CHP. They didn't do ****. I called in a drunk driver in watsonville and the city police pulled him over right behind me. I call in a VERY Dangerous situation and the CHP doesn't do ****. **** them.

I got...chp...o.k. no talk to the sheriff.....sheriff.....oh here's the chp. Meanwhile I'm telling them exactly where the guy is and that he had a baby in the car and a woman that was obviously concerned. She told me to leave after the guy kicked my car...she knew the dude was out of his mind.

As has already been said, good luck getting your local police chief/sheriff to approve your CCW application. It's just a fact of life living in the PRK.

EDIT: yeah it was like this one, you can see the holes for the lock are way offset to the sides, made it reasonably accessible on the unlocked side while still remaining locked

get an airsoft pistol with a polished metal slid. Cut the BB barrel inside, so it looks like a real gun. You can also upgrade the reload spring, so when you **** it, it's got a closer to real sound to it.

I wouldn't really want to have something that talks the talk but can't walk the walk.

If I can't get one, there's no way you'll get one, that is unless you move to a county that is lax about it.
Trust me, I even know mayors, police chiefs, etc... Still can't get one. You can try, but all thats going to happen is you wasting a lot of time.
Sorry man, wish I could tell you otherwise... :-\

I had some guy pull an airsoft gun on my friends and I for something very stupid... I knew it was an airsoft gun because:
1. He was an asian dude with two other girls
2. He was young and well dressed
3. He cocked the slide twice like an idiot
Needless to say, I'm now a proud owner of a POS Sig P226 airsoft gun.
