I SUGGEST TO EVERYONE THAT GOT A STATE REF TO HANDLE IT NOW... or you should have already cuz the refs are open tomorrow, and im sure judge will get wind of it.
Also say that the shop the sold it to you advertised it as 50 state legal.

good luck to all you car enthusiasts

Jon

ALL COUNTS DISMISSED

I was very respectful, went up there and gently greeted the judge.
She read off what I was standing upon, and asked me if I cleared anything up. She even explained how the Ref Stations are closed, and pondered what I did.
I told her that I tried calling up my local PD to get my 5202VC cleared up but they told me only the citing agency could clear it up. I explained to her that I got my ticket while the ref stations were closed. She said "There's nothing you can do, I'm going to dismiss this whole case." I was talked to by the Sheriff upon leaving and he told me to get or posses the CARB stickers at all times, to avoid future traffic citations.

FTMFW!!!!!!!
I wish I had your luck, I'm actually going to go to the ref to get my car checked out =/

my advice to you sube dude; be very humble and almost confused as to why you got the ticket (in front of 'your honor') What did you get reffed for, exhaust? Tell the judge that the shop you bought it at advertised it as state legal in noise and emissions. Tell me what else u got on the ticket and ill help u

So what are you going to do if you didn't buy it from a shop and the judge would like to see your reciepts/invoice? And even if you did have an invoice most shops have you sign off declaring you are aware that most parts purchased are intended for off road use only to cover their own asses in these situations. I'd come up with Plan B rather than intending to potentially dragging a shop down with you or making more trouble for yourself. Remember...it's CA either find some loopholes and defend yourself or pay to play

Cool, throw the shop under the bus when you know you what you were getting yourself into. Nice ethics.

People like you are why waivers exist and people get awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars for spilling coffee on themselves, then act surprised it was hot.

Its the 1st hearing you guys, Usually its settled in the first round, unless you want to have a formal trial.
I didn't mention any shops names, throwing it out there that my exhaust is 50state legal puts the cherry on top in her mind. She knew there weren't any refs active at the time.... and by me saying it was advertised as 50 state legal doesn't jeopardize any shop...wtf

Pretty sure waivers still mean something when it basically says you consented to the purchase and knew it was for offroad use. Its the same BS that the big companies use when selling you a part so it's there for a reason and not false hope.

you didn't mention any shop names or state it was 50state legal...but if you read what I said...I said WHAT IF the judge asks to see invoices and decides to further investigate it and call your bluff? I'm just saying it ain't a good idea to risk it and lie to a judge. Just common sense to me
