Red Light Cameras

Anyone successfully got out of a red light camera ticket? My wife didn't come to a complete stop at a red light, making a right turn.

And yes, you can clearly make out the license plate, and her as the driver...

you are pretty much screwed since you can make her and the plate out. Should of got her a monkey mask and there would be no issues!

There are 36+ cameras in SF. I was told by the designer, only 8 are working at a time, because they use a new digital camera to get the photos.

however,
The video ones are different....but im not sure if they have the same characteristics as the CTS.(the ones on top of the traffic lights, which are not live or anything, they have to be asked for by a court and takes 3 weeks after an incident or whatever, a separate company owns/operates them; ALSO mostly used for statistics and data collecting)

did they send you a link to the video of her not stopping? if the video shows her not stopping, you are pretty much hosed. there only way i have heard of people getting out of them is if they don't send out the ticket in a reasonable amount of time. i forget what that exact window of time is.

You can fight it. A friend of mine got a RL ticket in SF and won. He found an entrance to the city where the signs they have to post where not big enough according to statute.

This web page has tons of information:

I fight all tickets and win frequently, but you have to put effort in.

If fighting it is too much work, just go to the court clerk and schedule an arraignment before a judge. At the arraignment the judge will likely offer a reduced fine for a guilty plea and then she can take an online traffic school to avoid having this jack up your insurance rates.

She was running late for a street race, and besides, coming to a complete stop is for loooosers.

She's generally a very safe driver, no accidents or tickets in 7 or 8 years. She got distracted during when she was making the turn, and failed to come to a complete stop.

Can you get Trial By Declaration for a red light camera ticket?

Example:
For the arraignment, you plea not guilty by mail and ask for a Trial By Declaration. Then you write up your side of the story, true or false and send it to the court. Then the municipality that owns the camera needs to submit the pics or video to the court before the deadline. If the city doesn't respond in time, you win. But if they do, you lose.
