Most comprehensive insurance will do windshield chip repair for free. Have you called your insurance?

They do good work at reasonable prices. They successfully repaired two bullseye cracks in my truck's windshield for $25. And they replaced my wrx's windshield after it got a huge crack for $196. Sam is the owner/manager.

Whatever you do, don't buy those $10-15 repair kits that you can get at Kragen/pep boys. Totally worthless and don't work as advertised. Be advised.

I got a chip in my windshield when I got my car over a year ago. Insurance had it filled for free, but it is not holding. New windshield is on the to-do list.
If you can get it filled for free I would give it ia shot, it doesn't take too much time and if it works you save some money. If not, you're not out anything except maybe 30 min of your time.
