Quick question on carbon trunk swap
Switched my trunk to carbon fiber, obviously the weight difference from an sti trunk to carbon trunk is massive so the thing swings out like crazy when I try to open it!! Im guessing i need to swap something out with less tension in it, anybody know where I get it? and what do i need lol? thanks alot guys and gals!!

I just went wingless and have the same problem. I tried removing one of the tension bars but then the trunk doesn't have enough "oompf" to stay open. It might work in your situation being that your trunk is carbon and prob much lighter. Otherwise the only real solution is to get the softer tension bars from a wrx off someone or just buy them from the stealership.

if suggest looking for wingless trunk torsion springs. if you remove one of the sti torsion springs, it will cause your cf trunk to warp. i tried this for one day and one side of the trunk lifted up 1/8-1/4 of an inch. I currently dont have any torsion springs on. kinda sucks but i just deal with it by using a bat to hold up the trunk lol.

WRX/wingless torsion bars might work, but I'm guessing will still be pretty rough. I think most people go barless and hold the trunk lid up when accessing the trunk area, or just don't use that trunk
It really is just one of the downsides of aftermarket parts, not always designed for practical use or use with OEM support.
Like hengman said, just use something to prop it open. I think I used a poster shipping tube for a while.

I bought impreza trunk bars when I went wingless. These might work for you? subarugenuineparts.com doesnt provide part numbers so heres a picture of what they are called.

oh Ru-x i traded the wingless trunk away so i traded the rods with it. now i have a varis cf trunk along with a varis cf spoiler and i think a wingless rod setup might work just perfectly for me.
