They probably turned their radars off once they stopped the person, or they were pacing.

I don't see many city cops with their guns on all the time - as for the CHP, so far most have been running Ka and some with Laser (but not many). I see the laser guys on the end of the Golden Gate (Marin side) every once in a while. I agree that the cops probably had their gun off when they had the ohter person pulled over...

I find that the CHP uses Ka band, the radar boxes that show your speed limit use K band, Safeway and other grocery stores have K/Ka band signals spewing out from them. Not sure thatthats about.

CHP has K/Ka band guns mount on the front driver side, AND rear driver side behind the windshield ( they look like little white lights ).

I got some cheap $88 detector from Coctco and it works pretty darn good, I have not had it fail me yet! =)
Its a little weak detecting from behind, but when it does it makes a light beep at me.
Its supposed to detect Lidar, but I have not seen it yet.

Newest toy is lidar(Light detection and ranging), instant on, barely any deflection, meaning you get no warning.
