Hey all. Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but who wants to help me rip apart the block. It is sitting in the backyard. The thing is that my mom sold the house and well... stuff needs to be moved out. I figure that we can get together and rip the sucker apart. I know something is wrong with it. I am not sure what though. Yeah.

Who is up for a de-install fest?

you should find some old block that's blown and just rip it apart, look at everything, and just put it back together. Once you get the jist of it all putting a motor isn't hard at all. The first time will be your hardest, just when you want to build the motor for real, and have it perform.... check... recheck... recheck your recheck... and recheck that recheck on all the clearances, torque specs everything.

The block was free and was kindly donated by psoper. Yeah... I think he said that there is a spun rod bearing or something, but no one is sure. I figure we can pull it apart and then use parts as a paper weight or something.

The previous owner told me it had a bent connecting rod, but I never dug in to check anything.

When /if you do get around to tearing it down, have a set of calipers handy so you can measure stuff and see for yourself what's right and what's wrong, it can be a very good educational experience.

So anyone interested?

I would be...except I have three EA18T motors, including one still in the car, and one EJ25 SOHC motor sitting at my house for the same purpose.

Bump from the dead. I got nothing to do this weekend. Who wants to help me tear this sucker apart? It is broken anyways. Should be a good learning experience.

Hey. The block is in Fremont. Sorry Sean. Probably going to do it in front. It is just the bare short block. Should be fun.

It'll be an uninstall day.
