Question: How to Rebuild a block

Hi all.

I got a question for you all. Not so much as how to rebuild a block, but rather if it is something difficult to do.

I was thinking about just getting a cheap block, and tearing it down and tinkering with it. Learn something new.

What do you guys think?

TIA.

Not my block. There is a forum member that is selling two blocks. Check out his thread in the NorCal classified.

Its like anything complicated, as long as you have the right tools and know how you can do it. Essentially its just a bunch of bolts, gaskets chains and belts =).

No, and I do have this huge socket set. I think the only thing I had to borrow was an impact wrench and the cheater/breaker bar.

I've got one block I'd give away, not the one with heads though, just a short block.
I understand it has a bent connecting rod or some such.....

to rebuild a new block all you need is some duck tape, zipties, and a crescent wrench.

If you've got the time, space and a cheap block, why not? These jobs are always easier and less stressful knowing that you don't need to finish the job for tomorrow's commute.

I know... but I didn't ask how to do it. I kind of asked if it is something I should consider trying to learn.

in that case your title is a little misleading isnt it, considering it says HOW to rebuild a block
