All devices will have the micro USB if they want to sell them in Europe, last year they passed a law that said that all handheld phones will have a micro USB charger port on it.
I agree the mini USB is much more reliable, but there isn't much else you can do.

Using this charger with a Samsung Fascinate, been working since last October. MiniUSB is beefier, but micro is pretty much set as the standard. I think Apple is going to come up with an adapter to meet that EU standard.

The G1 was miniUSB but i guess you want something a bit nicer. I don't know what you guys are doing but I've had the same Evo for like a year and a half and never had a problem with the micro USB port.

I on average plug and unplug the power adapter probably about 10 times a day, I use the crap out of my phone. If you guys are talking about using it 2 times a day to and from work that's probably why I burn through them faster.
They don't even really burn up, it just that the prongs get weak and it falls out of the phone which is very annoying.

buy a USB to wall converter, and amass USB to micro USB cables? they're pretty cheap, especially in bulk. I'm using an ancient droid (HTC Hero) so I still have mini USB. Although, still running android 2.3!

Bryans evo 4g has never had an issue but my evo broke the actual phone side because I dropped it while it was plugged in. Then my replacement phone was a refurb and the USB port was loose from day one and one day Bryan went to get my phone off the charger and he pulled out the USB internals. I just bought the evo 3d 4g phone and the charger is on the side which is nice and it clicks in place this time so it's very sturdy. Sprint said they had several USB ports break on many different Brands but also said most common way to break it is using it while it's plugged in. I don't know if that's completely true but I do like the way they set up the new 3d phone.
