Qualifying video from Thunderhill.

Well here's a video from Thunderhill! Qualifying for race #2. At the beginning of the lap I let my buddy in the other blue car get ahead to give me a draft. The silver car points me by so he can get a draft from me.

About the driving: Got slightly loose at the entry to T5, lifted a touch at exit for 9, and turned in a a foot or so too late for T10. Other than those minor errors, a pretty clean lap. It was good enough to get pole position at the last race on May 25th. It's a 2:08.2. Car is a Spec Miata.

thanks for posting that...

can i ask, at that distance at the beginning, did you get any draft on the front straight first pass? i wouldnt think so, but am curious. Mainly on the back straights and final pass on the front?

data shows that the draft works at practically any distance (i.e. both cars on the front straight separated by 3 seconds still gives you something) but it is definitely more apparent when you are closer. I have a feeling I was getting a tow for the entire lap, but it was definitely worth something on the back and front straights just before the checkered flag.

That was an awesome lap!! i have actually been thinking about getting rid of my accord and picking me up a miata. Those cars look like they are a blast to mess with... light weight+RWD+good suspension+tires= FUN

dont get a hard drive camera, it will rattle apart and die quickly.
solid state or standard cheapo DV camera. dv cameras are disposable with the amount of vibration they get in a race car. maybe not a street car.

i only recommend getting a camera that is cheap. my vid is with a 7 year old sony dv. the vibration kills tape cameras but they are cheap.

get a solid state for better reliability. i have very little specific experience with cameras let alone hd cameras
