proposed new smog check

You guys are all missing the easy way to do this.

1)Pick up a ECU for your car stock
2)Place in piggy back spliced into cables hidden under dash
3)Set up switch to shunt power from mod ECU to Stock ECU.
4)go into station, flip switch, they test, clean. get back in car, flip switch, drive off.

If you get caught under the current system you're screwed too. Touching the cats is a federal offense as it is, how much worse could it get?

If this is true, it sounds like it'll be much like Nevada's current system. Their entire inspection consists of the tech plugging into the OBD-II port, making sure all monitors are up and no CEL codes are active. As long as that checks out, you're done and good to go. I know of guys up there running huge setups, fully catless, and they make it through smog just fine.

If they do switch to this would that mean they would remove the visual & the sniffer or just the sniffer portion and still require a visual check? It will be interesting to see what comes of this.
