potential mods.

Hey guys im asking a lot of questions lately. but thats cause you all be is so smart!!

well i am thinking about doing some things, and so far have gotten feed back on them. but i have some others i have questions about.. figured i would consolidate it all into this thread.

just want your opinions on some of this stuff:

Crank Pulley
3" catback (already have the downpipe installed)
Accessport
steering rack bushings
tein flex suspension and EDFC
rearsway bar *3way adjustable* and pillowball endlinks
rota P45F wheels and eagle f-1 tires

any opinions on this list.. should i be looking at other things? my goal is to track my car.. not on kevin hopper's STI's level haha but for basic tracking.

Catless uppipe, and finish the rest of your 3" exhaust with the catback -- go high flow cat for teh environment. Then protune with the AP. That will be a good decent power setup for now.

How much do the wheels weigh? I dont like heavier than stock...some dont mind.

i think the wheels weigh about 19lbs each, not 100% sure. but I really do not want to drop 3g's on volks for the weight difference.

and yeah i forgot to add uppipe on that list.

my downpipe is already catless, so... sorry

yeah up pipe is a good mod gotta get that turbo spoolin up faster...
then the catback...
accessport to tune your mods and get alot more power :-)
then suspension and BRAKES dont forget the brakes... more power =need for better brakes....unless you have a STI then the brembos are enough

if you dont want to go with a big brake kit, SS lines and pads will do you fine.

the p45f's are heavy the lightest rotas for out subarus is the subzero you can probably go with some used ones for fairly cheap, that, or pick up some bbs take offs from a 04 sti. id go with different coilovers there are better out there for almost the same money get ahold of myles at rce he is very knowledgeable when it come to all that stuff. forget about the steering rack bushings id get a master cylinder brace instead. and add in an anti lift kit and driving school and youre set. oh fluid, pads, lines and if you need rotors will be just fine as far as braking goes.

rce? never heard of it.

and i do not mind the weight of the p45f's everyone i talk to say they work just fine.

and yeah the teins were up in the air, i was thinking about cusco too. i am not really gonna set a price limit besides i dont wanna get the MOST expensive of everything.

If you want a cheaper great alternative to a coilover suspension, I'd highly recommend Ground Control coil springs with Koni Sport (yellow) shocks. The setup works exactly the same as any other coilover system, except you don't get the pillowball top hats which would let you adjust your camber. Also, with Ground Controls, you can choose any spring rate you want for no extra charge.

One of the guys at Ground Control owns a WRX and he can help you pick out what spring rates you want depending on what your needs are. I personally run 325 front and 300 rear, though I should have upped the rear to a 325 setup too.

rce= race comp engineering... dont get cusco's i already experienced that one i had a set and blew them out on these crappy sonoma county roads cusco does not rebuild them you must replace them to the tune of about 440 a piece, if there was one coilover to not get it would be those untill they get thier s*** together and start rebuilding thier dampers... my next set of coilovers will be zeals, they arent the MOST expensive but they will do the job just fine.

also, I would recommend the cobb front and rear sway bar kit, it really makes the car feel nice. They get rid of a lot of body roll, make the rear end turn out a bit easier.

Here is my take on the list of products you want.

Have the access part and was on stage 1 to start and stage 2 now:
noticable gain in power and boost depending on the map you are on. But yes very noticable from stock

Have the dp first then with the hush put on so went stage 2.
Very noticable gain. Feel stronger when at full boost. Car was smoother.

Have the crank pulley installed. Nothing really felt. Maybe some more torque but not as notiable

Have the tein flex. Actually my very first mod. If i had a choice, I wouldn't buy these. They are great but too stiff for my taste. I didn't op for the edfc since I figure I won't adjust it.
And I was right. All the settings don't differ stiffness wise much. i mean the cornering and handling differs when set but the ride is just hella stiff for street driving.

Have the Cusco 3way sway at the back. fell a little better but still i think the tein made most of the different over stock. installed with the endlinks (Helix)

Using 17 eagle F-1. not too bad. Great in the rain in terms of summer tires. handle wise i would rate it 3.5 out of 5. Not too bad but not for auto-cross

I would go with SS lines and pad. I think they are sufficient. BBK is just for blings. I have the Subaru 4-pot. It's just the feeling that is improve, nonetheless I like it.
