What a darn shame. Next dyno day, I sure hope we see some of those 400+WHP Subies around.
Is MIVEC what makes evo 9's make so much more power then the 8's????

The MIVEC helps with the low end more than anything else but its really the evo 9 turbo that is the monster. The efficency of the inline 4 and short exhaust manifold and SUPER efficient turbo design just makes that 16g perform like no other.

It's amazing how little mods you need on that car to make them run in the 11's.

Car Info: 2006 evo IX
Its the mivec that allows more low end torque while also allowing more the car to run 23psi or so on pump without knocking. The IX also had a larger turbo (compressor side), better gearing than the VIII, and revised oil cooling passages (also helps in running safer on pump)

I think a evo VIII on 110 with a 20g-9 turbo almost hit 350whp on the GST dyno today

There are also quite a few IXs hitting 330whp+ on 100 octane pump...

300-310whp seems to be the limit without adding cams or 100 octane though for the IXs

Andy@Speedelement street tuned a IX with just a TBE/licp/MBC that ran 11.91 2 weekends ago at sac

.
Yeah, this is the big divider between stock turbo STis and stock turbo evos

Not the mention the evo FMIC can handle 350whp+ before heatsoaking

that would be interesting to see since every dyno day i have ever seen on that exact same dyno with Evos with turbo-back and flash have been in the 225-235 range, I guess ther MBC adds 65whp?? I'll be there in any case

Well, evo tuning has come a long way in the past year or so

An evo 03 VIII with a TBE and ****ty works flash will put down 235hp

Bone stock IXs put down 235-240whp. EIP/Speedelement/GST have been pumping out 300whp evos on pump for the last 6 months

For 07 The STis appear to be faster aswell, should go low 12s with a tune/TBE...tho maybe not quite as fast the EVO 9.

anyhow, I'll be out there on Sat for the dyno day, been wanting to see how the EVOs have been doing. I was there todat to see that blue EVO with the twin scroll/20G turbo on 100 oct, sounded and looked wicked, we chased it out of the parking lot tonite and I must admit that thing was awesome Im hitting 296/305 with the TD05 20G in mone, would love to swao with an EVO with the same setup to get a comparison

I gotta disagree with this one. The gearing in the evo's make it very difficult to hit 10's with. I'd like to defer to our resident bench racer MARKSTI to elaborate more specifically on this...
