Yeah, I think they shot equally well, but the feel of the trigger and the ability to change the grips ultimately was the deciding factor in favor of the M&P for me.
NICE. I used to have that. Someone stole it from my house. 
The XD was originally my first choice, but I shot it and the M&P 9 and ended up going with the M&P. I still like the XD though.
I just got in my new grips this weekend for the 1911. VZ Operator II

LOL. That's a lot of those things, and I wouldn't really need that many, especially just for target shooting...but they are good to have around when NOT at the range
