I'm guessing it's the claimed "crank horsepower" that they list on the vf39 map on the cobb website.

ST-LIE.

The cost involved in the conversion is sooooooo much more than just buying an STi outright in the beginning. I've seen a lot of people attempt this type of swap and I never understood why they would do it... It just seems illogical.

Maybe if they got the WRX for some SUPER low and crazy price (used) and wanted to beef it up with STi bits, but other than that I don't get it...
Insurance is cheaper? Idk..

KallyBlueBook at $19730 without STi upgrade and Salvage title.
Yes, "Kally"BlueBook tends to price cars about 15-20% higher than Kelly Blue Book, and also seems to have an option to to include salvage or clean title that Kellys doesnt. I can understand why he chose to list their estimate in his add.

KBB does offer an option for salvage title... sort of. If you look at the condition options, anything with a salvage title falls into their "poor" category. However KBB doesn't give a price quote because it's impossible to quote for a car like that depending on what happened. So if you go off that, assume it's worth less than the Lowest price they give...
