I think most people's computer will be able to play Halo 3 in 3 years. Just like most people's comps can play Halo 2 now, a few years after it came out on xbox

Pros&Cons
Console Pros: Zero compatibility issues, Games are programed to run optimally for a set performance level of the hardware. Thus, frame rates will be consistent. Consoles are cheap as opposed to buying a high end gaming PC.
Cons: Zero upgrades for speed, graphics, audio. Games are expensive. Hardware such as cables and other stuff is proprietary and pricey. I hate game pads.
PC Pros: Infinite expandability, Massive resolution, massive frame rates, takes advantage of all the latest technology (directX 10.1). Games are cheaper. Mouse and Keyboard can't be beat. If you've got the cash you're going to have the best looking/playing games money can buy. Of course a PC will do everything and anything else you want it to do. Second generation Vista extenders are almost out and will be really cool.
Cons: Expensive. Lower end PC's don't run the latest games very well. Compatibility issues between games and hardware. You'll have to get creative if you want to hook your PC up to your 50" LCD in the family room and not have the wife complain about a big ugly PC case and cables all over the place.

Enough said. The consoles are coming to an end. The PS3 failed. The XBOX260 failed. The Wii, did ok. They still don't watch up with PC's.

And I agree PC is better than console.. but some games just aren't right on PC... even with a controller.. its always fun to have fighting games..
I do think playstation is on it's way out though... as hard as it might believe they lost sooo much money between production, research and sales.
