Passport or V1???

I've read the reviews. I want some real world advice. Got another damn ticket that EASILY would have been avoidable had I had a detector. I wasn't even going that fast....shoot I was going faster IN TRAFFIC this morning.

So fill me in fellas. Christmas is coming.

Never had Passport but V1 has yet to fail me...

My friend had a passport and later switched to V1. he has also been on a road trip with his friends where some had none V1 including Passport. The V1 was able to detect where some couldn't and faster.

Good luck!

V1. I haven't used the Passport but the arrows and numbers on the V1 make it that much better. You know where to look and how many there are.

Or in my case, if you are driving through areas with radar signs that show you your speed, you know how many to expect to be getting hit by (at one point I am hit by 5 at once).

If you are gonna go that route, don't f*** around about it. Get the V1! The ability to tell where the radar is coming from and the range beat all. Spend the money and get the best.

Jeff has a passport and loves it....despite his 4 tickets....haaa. Jeff...chime in. Your view makes sense....arrows or not basically when it goes off you do the exact same thing. SLOW DOWN.

we had a v1 while driving from houston to sac, all i gota say is that thing is a wallet saver. and it has amazing dection, in the dessert we would pickup radar/laser signals from 6+ miles away, it was nuts.

ive never used a passport, but i can say the v1 is a pretty awesome machine

What everyone else has already said. It's a really expensive detector for a reason. You get what you pay for (in most instances)

I like my passport. Not saying that one is better than the other. Test prove that one is not better than the other. They are the Creme de la creme of detectors. There is always a debate of which one is better. Either will serve you fine. The V1 isn't fool proof, niether is the Escort. You have to get a sense to what requires reaction and what doesn't. Regardless of where the radar is coming from your reaction is always the same. SLOW DOWN, and be beware of radar in your area. I am used to the function of the Escort. I can tell you 90% of the time, if the radar is oncoming, ahead, behind, or moving in the same direction ahead of me simply by listening to it's intensity and the pattern it beeps. I don't need no stinkin' arrows.
As the tickets go, I don't have any tickets that the radar detector would have helped me. I can tell you that it has helped me out of a lot of them though. Again they aren't fool proof. I certainly would not consider them a license to speed.

Hell yea we need one for that road. My parents have the passport and within 2 months of owning it, it needs to be sent back to them to get recalibrated. If I had $400 to spend, I'd be getting the V1. Plus being able to put the detector one place and being able to mount the visual part somewhere in your eyesight is great. So many times I never realized my not so great detector was going off cause I didn't see it and the stereo was too loud to hear it. If it was mounted in front of me I would have seen it light up.

I send mine in once a year for software upgrade and recalibration. It's the smart thing to do.

thanks jeff. I like to see both sides of the coin from people that ACTUALLY USE the products.

I do like the fact that I can have the V1 display off so no one else can see it and the remote display somewhere I can see it since my stereo is often quite loud.

Escort offers this particular function as well. The remote smart cord has a blinking LED that lets you know the alarm is activated. It doesn't provide much function aside from that. If you remember I custom installed it into the blank switches located by the foglight switch.
