Paramedic Programs
crap.
It is only one short course at your local JC. I did it. I think everyone should be minimum trained as EMT-B. It really isn't hard.
As an EMT-B I had intubation and defib within my scope of practice, intubating took a separate cert though. There weren't really drugs that I could administer.

Drugs is the easiest one.
EMTs can only provide oxygen, glucose, and assist with epi, nitro. To be honest. I can only do so much as an EMT-b but skills within EMT-B will more likely be life saving to a certain extent imo

I think they pushed for $14 an hour recently? I dunno or still may be be $12 an hour.
My goals personally is to get into fire. I didn't make this round of hires locally so I don't wanna waste my time away waiting and not doing anything.

As for wages, I have been with my EMS company for 7 years and make ruffly $23.50 an hour as a EMT-B. Yes, as you can tell by my wages I am union.
I let my cert lapse when I went away to the Army...now the only medicine being practiced in our house is my wife who is a D.O.
EMT will make between 30 and 40 a year based on union/location (full time of course)
Paramedic is around 50-65 a year starting depending on union/location. Even as a part time medic I can make 50 where I'm at in napa (I work a lot)
EMT is not a lot of responsibility, paramedic is a ton of liability. Much higher chance of going to court, especially if u do DUI blood draws like me. Paramedic also has much easier time getting into a fire department.
