Yeah, drums in rear. I looked into converting to disks in the back, but it's a pain. The drums work fine and grip well enough for normal driving. The only issue with them is in shedding heat after a lot of repeated hard stops, and that you can't visually check the pads. I completely toasted a set of Porterfield R4-S's - they looked fine, but chunks came off when I pulled the shoe out. That was after about 6 track days though. The fronts were worn, but maintained their integrity. I think they'd actually gotten hotter, but cooled off a lot sooner and didn't sit around baking inside a dutch oven like the rears.

Anyway, for normal driving (including rallycrossing), I wear out the fronts about twice as fast as the rears. I'm on a different set of R4-S's now and they're holding up just fine since I stopped tracking it.

I've considered doing a brake conversion on it. I've also considered swapping in a Legacy LSD. If I ever decide to convert this to a rallycar I'll probably do both.

Update:

I just put in an RS shifter. It's a full 1 1/2" shorter height wise and it's probably 20% shorter throw. Nice... feels "sporty". :P

I am considering doing a front WRX brake conversion. That definitely means I have to put 16's on. Maybe doing an RS brake swap would mean I can still keep my 15's.

Hoche, what are your mods again?

Nuthin' much, really.

Cusco 20-24 rear swaybar, set on 20
Kartboy rear endlinks
MRT front endlinks (stock swaybar)
Cusco front strut bar
Cusco rear strut bar
STi engine and transmission mounts
ACT clutch
N1 lightweight pulley set, (OEM sized - not underdriven)
Cobb SS brakelines in the front (rears won't fit with the drums)
OEM brake pads at the moment (bleah. don't ask.)
Amsoil 2-stage airfilter
WRX 16" wheels with BFG KDWS
heaps of dirt stuck on the bottom to lower the CG

...and I have a Stromung exhaust lying around that I bought last year and never got around to installing because I thought it might tank my torque.
