Arrow $1k off a high end digital SLR camera

Forget the cheapy digital Rebel. Go for a high end Kodak DCS Pro ALR with its magnesium alloy body, 14 mp resolution, 19 frame burst mode, and full-frame 35mm sensor. Regular retail price is $3,500, but with the attached $1,000 off coupon, it's "only" $2,500. It may be too expensive for the casual photographer, but it's a really good investment for someone who wants to get into it more in-depth. Offer is valid 11/15/04 to 12/31/04

Very true. Hopefully, those of us buying a camera like this would already have some nice lenses from our film cameras.

I like the canon Digital rebel (300d)... only like 800 dollars w/o lense and takes amazing photos, plus it's made by Canon! My friend owns one but i'm not too crazy about that kinda stuff. I have the Canon G5 and works perfect for me.. also half the price

yep, that is a damn nice camera.....my dad has that one.....cost about $7k+ or so w/a 35-120 (I think) lens, 1GB media card, and an extra battery pack.....uber pimp tho, and super high res......it takes pictures at 300 dpi standard......which is print quality.

Edit: the Kodak Camera is manufactured by Nikon for Kodak.

Would you believe the noise is greater on that camera than on the digital rebel? Picture quality on the digital level is quite good though it may not have the resolution of the Kodak

Meh, I'm saving up for a Canon 20D. I'm not entirely sure what I'd do with 14MP.

One of the reasons I recommended the Kodak is that it's the lowest priced digital SLR that has a 1:1 sensor. That means that if I attach a 28-105 lens, I get that exact focal length. Most of the other digital slr's have magnification factor between 1.3 to 1.7. That means that to get a 24mm wide-angle shot, you need an expensive 18mm or 15mm lens. By using the Kodak, I can use my existing 28-300 lens and get both wide-angle shots and telephoto shots.
