hey David.....whats "smorking"? /\ LMAO.....

My cousin and my uncle have sleep apnea....it is a sleeping disorder, but it happens after you have already fallen asleep....its when you are sleeping and stop breathing (hold your breath) for seconds sometimes up to a minute at a time.

anywho...take a shot of something alcoholic before you go to bed, or like others have stated.....smoke some chron....that will work.... or stay up for 48 hours straight (drink plenty of Red Bulls) with NO SLEEP, then you will PTFO, (Pass The F*ck Out)

Try taking melatonin like 1-2 hours before going to bed. But, seriously, I'd take the advice posted earlier about seeing a doctor.

I used to have this problem big time..
I would be up untill 4-6 AM playing video games.
(being a web designer didn't help this problem)

There were two things that used to keep me awake:
One: constantly thinking about my life etc. (depression/anxiety)
Two: feeling bored. This has you end up almost falling asleep then getting up again.

It's true what those guys said, do something to occupy your mind.
If your insomnia is minor reading or watching TV in your bedroom can make it much worse.
One peice of advice doctors give these types is to not do anything in your bedroom but go to bed.

But if its a major problem yeah reading video games TV or exercise will help you get tired. Distract the insomia.
When I started getting exercise daily my insomnia went away.

If you can't sleep try running 100 yard dashes or sprinting stairs over and over for an hour untill you collapse in exhaustion.
hehe j/k

Dood, that meant that for all but 7 hours a day you were working. For some reason I think I see an exageration here.

Any way about the sleep thing, we recently published the following in our work newsletter. I employ drivers and fatigue and low sleep is an issue in my industry, so here it is:

The transit industry has always needed employees to work lng and unuaual hours to meet the needs of their customers. Ou often hectic, stressful and ever changing schedules can cause us to have problems getting a good nights rest. Continued sleep deprivation will lead to health issues and will no doubt have an effect on your decision making process. The combination of these two situations will effect how you operate or maintain our vehicles, manage our contracts, and deal with our customers.

Below you will find some tips for healthy sleep:

Sleep as much as you need to feel refreshed and healthy the following day, but not more. Most adults need between 7 and 8 hours every night.

Establish a habitual bedtime and wake-time schedule. Avoid sleeping in on your days off.

Exercise daily, preferably in the late afternoon but not within 2 hours of going to sleep.

Avoid heavy meals just prior to your sleep period. A light snack may help with sleep. A heavy meal will not.

Make sure the bedroom is quiet nd dark. If necessary wear earplugs or an eyemask to improve the environment.

Keep the room temperature at abuot 65 degrees.

Do not read, study, or watch TV in bed.

Do not go to bed until you feel sleepy. Try reading or a hot bath to help you relax.

If you can't sleep, get out of bed, go to another room and do something realxing until you feel sleepy.

Don't rehash today's problems or worry about tomorrows schedule. Try writing "to do" lists for the next day to clear those items from your mind.

Ok and now for a serious answer

Camomille (sp?) tea works. A little buttered bread with it can help too.

Also, having peace in your life helps too. By nature, I'm not a worrier (with a few topical exceptions), so I consider myself lucky. But in general, where your hope in life is directed will mostly determine your general mental state. If that hope is held by something you either don't trust or do not have control over, you won't have peace... especially in the quiet moments after getting into bed or in the midst of a crisis.

Bah, none of that crap works. I have had sleeping problems ever since I was a kid, and have tried valerian, melatonin, sleepytime tea, does nothing but frustrate me. I took unisom sleeptabs everyday for 2.5 years, so don't start taking those because you won't be able to stop. Something which is a step down that my doctor suggested is benadryl, 2 night helps me to relax. She tried prescribing me some nasty sleeping meds, which kept me up later than usual because I felt like I couldn't breath. Gives you a nasty hangover too.

Best sleepy stuff I ever had was 1/2 a pill of my grandma's sleep medication when I was 15. IT was some pills from england, they made me giddy then sent me straight to sleep. Wish I could get my hands on some more of that
