Bay Point isn't too bad I guess, there's a BART station there and HWY4 is still 4 lanes in that area. Once you get halfway into Pittsburg it'll turn ito 2 lanes and traffic sucks bigtime. I would say, avoid Oakley.

A relative just bought a house in baypoint, very nice 4 years old, 2k sq ft, view of the bay, for $480k. I was really impressed.
I'm concerned about the quality of the area though...crime and schools wise.
We went to visit them yesterday and went out for lunch...and when we came back there were these *cough*gentlemen*cough* cruising their culdesac very slowly. When they saw us they drove off way down the street...and stopped at someones house, jumped out filled up two water big bottles from the person's hose...and sped off. All while we were staring at them.
Too close to Pittsburg/Richmond?

I personally wouldn't live in Bay Point. It was known as west Pitt up untill about 10 years ago, and not much more than the name has changed. The housing is nice and all, but you still have to share stores and the like with the rest of Pitt. Go to your local Safeway at night with your girlfriend when you live in Bay Point and see how much you like it.
Oakley is much nicer and on its way up. It used to be that Oakley and Brentwood were the boondocks of Antioch, but they have gotten MUCH better over the last decade. There are new shops, places to eat, and the HYW4 bypass that will take you to Vasco and straight through to 580. PM me if you have any specific questions about either area; I've lived in Antioch for over 20 years and know the area fairly well.

p.s. Pitt schools usually rate in the 1-3 range on Californias 1-10 rating scheme.

Thanks guys, I knew the housing prices were too good to be true.
But there is a 2000 sqft BRAND new home in Oakley for $439k. Sure I'd have a 1.25hour commute (at best), but my wife wouldn't have to work anymore and I'd have a garage for the soobs.

Oakley is a nice town. a lot of new developments going in. i have a couple projects that i am working on out there. its really small there and isnt' much. brentwood is right next door and has a little more to offer but still pretty small. not much crime out there. just a lot of farm land/vineyards.
The only problem with Oakley is it's not really "Oakley" anymore. New stuff getting built left and right, houses are getting out of hand as far as prices go.... I can go on for hours. But it's better than Bay Point.
You should move to Knightsen. Quite, old fashioned, a nice school. Good Times.
